Update: Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has fixed date for Reprinting of slip and Mock Examination date

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation has fixed a new date for its 2019 mock examination earlier scheduled for Saturday, 23rd March, 2019. This change is due to certain circumstances beyond the Board's control.
Candidates who had indicated interest in the mock examination at the point of registration and have since printed their mock examination notification slips need not print another one.  All the details on the slips remain the same except the examination date which is now 1st April, 2019.

The Board has also scheduled to conduct  the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation examination (UTME)  from Thursday, 11th April, 2019. Candidates are to begin the printing of the 2019 UTME notification slips from Tuesday, 2nd April,2019.

All candidates who registered for the 2019 UTME are to ensure that they print  their examination notification slips  before the day of the examination as no excuses would be entertained. The public should  note that the Board would not reschedule examination for any candidate.

Candidates can print their slips anywhere.
Nigerians would recall that the Board had closed the sale of its Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination and Direct Entry application document on Thursday,25st February, 2019. At the close of the sale and subsequently close of registration portal, it was discovered that 41,063 candidates created profile and procured either  UTME or DE ePINS but were unable to complete their registration formalities after initiating the process. In view of this consideration the Board has open the registration portal effective from Wednesday 13th March, 2019 for all candidates with either UTME or DE ePINS to complete their registration formalities. The portal  would be closed on Friday, 15th March,2019 by 12 midnight.

This opportunity is for only candidates who had created profile and  procured UTME or DE ePINS before the close of registration portal as the sale of ePINS had since been closed.
Please endeavour to register before Friday midnight if you are holding any of the ePINS (UTME/DE).

Nigeria elections: US issues INEC stern warning

The United States has asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to resist external “pressure and intimidation” in the upcoming general elections scheduled for February 16 and March 2.

The United States’ Secretary of State, Michael Pompeo, in a press statement, said that the upcoming elections in Nigeria would be an opportunity for the country to solidify its democratic leadership in Africa.

Pompeo said: “The United States government supports a free, fair, transparent, and peaceful election that reflects the will of the Nigerian people.

“It is critical that the Independent National Electoral Commission operates free from outside pressure and intimidation and in a totally objective manner.

“Nigerian security services must provide a safe and secure environment for the Nigerian people to exercise their rights.

“Those who interfere in the electoral process or incite violence must be held to account.

“The upcoming elections are an opportunity for Nigeria to solidify its place as a democratic leader in Africa”.

The United States and the international community have continued to call for credible and peaceful general elections in the country.

The country had described Nigeria’s 2019 general elections as “a critical test” for the country, the ECOWAS sub-region and the entire continent.

The United States had also warned against violence during the February and March 2019 general elections in Nigeria, saying it will “remain intensely focused” on the elections.

Breaking News: Michael Jackson's statue has been removed from Britain's National Football Museum following fresh allegations of sexual abuse

A statue of Michael Jackson has been removed from Britain's National Football Museum in the wake of fresh allegations of sexual abuse that continue to surround the pop superstar's legacy.

Wade Robson and James Safechuck accused Jackson of sexually abusing them over a period of several years when they were children in a four-hour documentary "Leaving Neverland," the first part of which aired in the UK on Wednesday.

Jackson's family has pushed back against the film, calling it a "public lynching." The musician's estate is suing HBO, which co-produced the documentary. HBO shares its parent company, WarnerMedia, with CNN.

The soccer museum in Manchester, England, has displayed the statue since 2014 but removed it from display this week. The plaster and resin artwork was initially unveiled in 2011 at Fulham's Craven Cottage stadium by the club's then-owner Mohamed Al Fayed, who was friends with the singer.

Jackson visited the west London ground as a guest of Al Fayed in 1999, watching Fulham play a second-tier match against Wigan Athletic.

A spokeswoman for the museum said: "The National Football Museum has made a number of changes to its exhibitions and the objects on display over the last few months. "As part of our ongoing plans to better represent the stories we want to tell, we have made a decision to remove the Michael Jackson statue from display."
Although the museum did not explicitly connect the statue's removal to allegations against the singer, the fallout from "Leaving Neverland" has led to some fans boycotting the singer and has prompted radio stations in Canada and New Zealand to stop playing his music.

Just In: R. Kelly jailed after failing to pay more than $161,000 in child support, as judge had ordered

Musician R. Kelly was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon after failing to comply with a judge’s order that he pay more than $161,000 in back child support.
More than an hour after Kelly entered a closed court hearing in the Daley Center, he walked out accompanied by Cook County sheriff's deputies. "He's in our custody," said Sophia Ansari, a spokeswoman for the sheriff's office.
The hearing was held by Judge Lori Rosen, who last month warned Kelly that he faced jail time unless he paid the child support and interest. During Wednesday’s hearing, Kelly was found in contempt and ordered into custody, according to Cara Smith, chief policy officer at the sheriff’s office.
Kelly must pay $161,663 to be released from jail, she said. His next court date is March 13.
The arrest comes less than two weeks after Kelly put up $100,000 to be released from custody on criminal sexual abuse charges.
Records connected to Kelly’s divorce case have been kept secret and out of public view. But paperwork on the back child support was made public in Kelly’s criminal court file. Kelly and his ex-wife have three children together.
Kelly's publicist, Darryll Johnson, said the musician showed up with $50,000 or $60,000 but the judge wanted the full amount paid. “As you know, he hasn’t worked in a long time,” Johnson said.
When asked how Kelly can still live in the Trump Tower, he replied that Kelly "has some money.”
Kelly was “happy” when he arrived for the hearing, not thinking he would be jailed, Johnson said. But now he is "depressed, deflated and upset."
Johnson said he didn’t know where Kelly would get the money he needs to be released. The woman who posted Kelly's bail after the criminal charges was at the Daley Center on Wednesday but left without speaking to reporters.
Alison Motta, the attorney for Kelly's ex-wife, would only confirm that the ex-wife did not appear at the hearing.
Kelly's attorney, Steve Greenberg, was in court but did not comment.
Kelly, 52, was indicted last month on 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. Cook County prosecutors allege he abused four victims, three of them underage girls, over a span of 12 years. Kelly and his attorney have vehemently denied the accusations.
Bond was set at $1 million on the criminal charges, but Kelly was unable to post the necessary $100,000 until after he spent a weekend in custody. Court records indicate a 47-year-old Romeoville woman posted his bail, identifying herself on the bond slip as Kelly’s “friend.”
Accusations of predatory sexual behavior have dogged the singer for years. Cook County prosecutors charged him in 2002 with child pornography, saying he made a sex tape with his teenage goddaughter, but a jury acquitted him in a sensational trial in 2008.
In the latest charges, prosecutors allege Kelly tried to force oral sex on his 24-year-old hairdresser in 2003 — while he was free on bond on the then-pending child pornography charges.
Prosecutors also alleged that Kelly solicited an underage girl outside his 2008 criminal trial and later sexually abused her; that he carried on a yearlong sexual relationship with a girl he had met in 1998 when she was celebrating her 16th birthday; and that he videotaped himself having sex with a young girl at his home in Olympia Fields in the late 1990s.

Rihanna Reacts After Secret Album Under "Fenty Fantasia" Leaks Online

A new Rihanna album full of unreleased songs recorded by the Bajan artist has leaked online and charted on Apple Music.

While the rest of the world waits in anticipation for Rihanna's upcoming album, it appears a new unreleased album recorded by the 'Needed Me' songstress has surfaced online.

Rihanna - who has reportedly almost finished a long-awaited double album - can be heard singing on a number of tracks under the moniker 'Fenty Fantasia' on a secret album named 'Angel'.

The album leaked on Apple Music over the weekend and debuted at #67 on the Worldwide iTunes Albums Chart, with track names including 'Sexuality', 'B*tch I'm Special' and 'Counterfeit'.
Rihanna appeared to respond to a fan who pointed out the leak.

Fans soon picked up on the new album leak and took to social media in search of answers, with some quizzing the 31-year-old songstress herself.

Rihanna hopped in her Instagram mentions to speak on the matter after one user questioned "What's with this mess Rih? Get their a** to jail asap."

"Sh*ts crazy," replied Rihanna. The tracks were also posted on YouTube, while some fans suggested that some of the songs have actually been on the video-sharing site for "years".

The album has since been removed from Apple Music.

Meanwhile, Rihanna's producer The Dream confirmed to US radio station Hot 97 that her new album is almost finished. "She's cooking, she's about done," he said. "She's about done. Super close."

In December 2018, Rihanna confirmed that the album will be releasing in 2019.

Court sacks all APC candidates In Cross-Rivers

Barely few days to the gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections in the country, a High Court in Calabar on Tuesday insisted that the removal of the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidates for the election in Cross River is a settled matter.

The High Court presided over by Justice Eyo Ita in a suit brought before it by an aggrieved APC governorship aspirant, Mr. Ukpan Odey, said since the reliefs sought by the plaintiff were the same as that which a Federal High Court had already ruled on, it could not rule on them again.

The Federal High Court In Abuja had on February 11th, 2019, in suit FHC/CA/CS/73/2018 ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to delist all the names of candidates of APC from the 2019 elections.

Affirming that the ruling stands, Justice Ita directed “that All Progressives Congress, APC, the 1st Respondent herein, is obliged to apply and obey its constitution and guideline and their prayer N0 2 was decided in suit FHC/CA/CS/73/2018 on 11/2/2019 and is res judicatory.

On plaintiff’s prayer No. 3, the court held that “Prayer N0.3 was decided in Suit N0: FHC/CA/CS/73/2018 and following that decision INEC, 2ND defendant herein, has removed the names of all candidates forwarded to INEC by APC as a product of the primaries from its ballot papers.

Prayers N0.4 &5, in this case, were granted in suit No: FHC/CA/CS/73/2018. INEC has removed those names from its ballot papers.

“The name of the 3rd defendant has already been voided and being one of those names sent to INEC by the first Defendant, APC, removed from INEC ballot papers for the Governorship Elections in Cross River state coming up on the 9/3/2109 in line with consequential order 5 in the Federal High court case.

“I am of the settled view that the main causes of action in claims 2-6 in this matter, which are the APC primary elections for her candidates in Cross River state, and the sending of names of APC candidates based thereon to INEC, were resolved by the Federal High Court in the case referred to above on the 11/2/2019.

“The cause of action in those claims are therefore res judicata. Claims 2-6 in this action are in consequence dismissed as there is nothing left to decide in them.”

Speaking with newsmen shortly after the judgment, A .U Bukar, Counsel to Claimant, John Ukpan Odey an aspirant under APC, said he was happy with the decision of the court following the fact that a Federal High sitting in Abuja had already given an order on the matter.

“What was displayed earlier by the APC was political rascality and we are happy that the High Court sitting in Cross River state where my client instituted the matter has affirmed the order of the Federal High Court of 11/2/2019 with Suit No FHC/CA/CS/73/2018 which has already been obeyed by INEC which on the 22nd of February delisted all candidates of APC including the governorship candidate, “he submitted.

Official — Kylie Jenner Is Now the World's Youngest Billionaire

Kylie Jenner has two milestones to celebrate this week: not only can she now officially call herself a billionaire, but according to Forbes, she's now the youngest billionaire in the world. The 21-year-old was featured on Forbes's yearly ranking of the richest people in the world, which was released on March 5, and out of the 2,153 names featured, Jenner came in at No. 2,057.

The youngest of the Kardashian-Jenner crew raised some eyebrows back in July when she covered Forbes and was categorized by the magazine as a "self-made millionaire." Her financial status can be attributed, of course, to the success of her brand, Kylie Cosmetics, though the idea of her being self-made is still seen as debatable by many. Last year, Kylie was said to be worth $900 million — making her the richest of her siblings — and the recent distribution deal she struck to have her famed lip kits sold exclusively in Ulta stores nationwide is likely what tipped her into billionaire status.

"I didn't expect anything. I did not foresee the future," Kylie told Forbes. "But [the recognition] feels really good. That's a nice pat on the back." Kylie joins the list with other billionaires Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, and Bill Gates.

Kylie Kristen Jenner is an American reality television personality, model, entrepreneur, socialite, and social media personality. She has starred in the E! reality television series Keeping Up with the Kardashians since 2007 and is the founder and owner of cosmetic company Kylie Cosmetics.

ASUU not going back on strike

Following a tweet by a handle, @Official_ASUU, the Academic Staff Union of Universities has said it does not have an official Twitter handle and has no plans of going on strike anytime soon.

The user had tweeted, “Thinking of going on another three months strike action..” which received a lot of backlash, as the Nigeria Twitter community perceived the handle as the official Twitter handle of the union.

The union, which spoke through its President, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, in an interview with our correspondent on Monday, also said it denounces the handle and was set to take further action against those operating the account.

Ogunyemi said, “First, ASUU does not have an official Twitter handle. Those who are operating that handle are fraudsters. So, we are issuing a statement today to denounce that handle, and that is to enable us to take further action against those operating that account. Arising from that, it means that nobody should take seriously anything posted from that account.”

On the possibility that ASUU could resume the strike that was called off ‘conditionally’ on , Ogunyemi said, “We are not yet at that stage. We are engaging government on how to implement the Memorandum of Action. We are working with government to activate the MOA, to make sure that all the provisions of the MOA are met, within the timeframe.

“Our students have nothing to fear because our members are compassionate and so are not looking at immediate action, instead they are engaging the government on the MOA.  And at this moment some of our members are making sacrifices. Some have lost their annual leave and some that are supposed to go on sabbatical have elected to stay behind to cover lost ground.”
